In the Afterglow of Christmas Glo
A Night of Real Christmas!
November 29 & 30

Beginning back on October 21st, Glo ticket sales began under the leadership of Jane and Alan Hoffmann assisted by many volunteers welcoming EFCNers old and new to reserve their spot for this wonderful event held at our church for over forty years. Julie Loge handled our beautiful promotional materials for Glo this year, using her graphic arts gifts behind the scenes.

Early Thursday and again on Friday morning of Glo, Beth Moore, Hostess Coordinator, and her helpers gathered to make the rooms ready for arriving hostesses. There were tablecloths, mirror tiles, and hurricane globes to prepare and allocate where requests had been made to borrow items.

In the days preceding the “big event”, Jennifer Horvath and her group of volunteers worked many hours to decorate the hallways and rooms with garlands, trees, wreaths, and all the trimmings. Their creative efforts made the spaces come alive with the beauty of the season, ready for each hostess to add her personal touch to her uniquely decorated table.

At noon each day, hostesses eagerly entered the building to the welcoming sounds of Christmas music, and the aroma of hot spiced cider, and cookies loving provided by Louise Hagemann. Volunteer hostess helpers were in each area to assist and inform each hostess as she lovingly prepared a beautiful table and prayed for her guests who would be coming that evening. An atmosphere of excitement and expectation about what God would do in these rooms in just a few hours filled the air!

Each night, the guests were welcomed by volunteer greeters and smiling servers as they arrived for the punch reception. Women viewed the spectacular areas filled nightly with many tables festively set for our honored guests to enjoy. This was where the “Glo” in “Christmas Glo” could be witnessed by one and all; a glow in the rooms sparkling with lights, on the tables drenched in candlelight, and best of all – observed on the face of each woman overflowing from the sense of love and fellowship that permeated this gathering.

Toni McGraw once again orchestrated the delicious catered dinner, with the help of many gentlemen and a few ladies from our church who served the evening’s guests. The warmth and friendliness of the servers made each woman in attendance feel pampered and very special.

The evening concluded with the performance of A Night of Real Christmas by singer, Kim Hill and story teller, Lisa Harper. Peggy Prince coordinated several helpers to make everything flow smoothly in the auditorium. Around 900 women over the two nights of Christmas Glo were blessed and God was glorified as many prayed to receive Christ as Savior or to rededicate their lives to Him.

All of these hours of work by leaders and volunteers was undergirded by the prayer team headed by Sue Cesario who prayed God would receive the glory for all that occurred.

The most meaningful thing for me as Glo Director was seeing all the volunteers come together to serve! It was evidence of how God has given gifts to the Body and when so many exercise their unique gift, the multitudes are blessed. Bringing Christmas Glo to our women each year is a big job, but it was made enjoyable, purposeful, and impacting because we all worked together.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person who helped make this event the successful, God-driven and God-honoring event we prayed it would be. To Jesus goes all the glory, honor and praise for the entire event!! It is to Him we dedicate our lives, service, and love.
